Nancy Streeter

Senior Compensation Consultant

Nancy Streeter joined HR Advisors Group in 2011. She has over 40 years of human resources experience, with more than 20 years specializing in compensation strategy and development. Nancy collaborates with our clients’ leadership to create compensation plans that mirror the organization’s compensation strategy, develops and maintains base and incentive compensation plans, and communicates compensation plan and survey results in “plain English.”

Nancy has a talent for translating data into simple and meaningful compensation strategies and goals for our clients. She has the ability to walk our clients through the thorough and at times laborious process to create meaningful and competitive solutions for their leadership and staff. Nancy holds a BS from Kansas State University and an MBA with a specialization in Human Resources from The George Washington University.

The interplay between art and science is what I most enjoy about the field of compensation. The question as to whether compensation is an art or a science has been debated within the HR field. The “science” view is not questioned because we draw from salary data published in highly regarded salary surveys when market pricing jobs for our clients. But apples are not always apples, and this is where “art” comes into play. For example, a client’s Engineer 3 job description may not align with an Engineer 3 job description in the salary surveys. For this reason, we need to ask the right questions, and emphasize the importance of obtaining up-to-date job descriptions from clients to ensure we are creating accurate, fair compensation plans.

As a resident of the beautiful Virginia Beach waterfront, I enjoy standing on my deck and watching the tide, aggravating seagulls, egrets, and an occasional dolphin where the “art” or “beauty” of nature is in complete compatibility with the “science” of what I see.
