What’s your New Year’s resolution going to be? Gym? Less television? More reading?
Although our intentions are good, unfortunately, these resolutions are often cast aside in fairly short order after the beginning of the year. However, the New Year affords organizations’ leadership the opportunity to collectively decide on key resolutions and changes for the coming year.
Unlike your personal resolutions which is typically a singular act, sitting down, discussing and building consensus with your leadership team or other key stakeholders about the direction for your organization increases the chance of success.
Whether you need to more effectively engage your employees, reevaluate your corporate culture, implement knowledge capture programs and processes – use this opportunity to set some specific goals and timelines in 2015 to measure against. Ultimately, employees and management alike should be measured against these priorities in a transparent fashion.
Obviously, priorities and objectives will change over the year. However, recognize that adjusting your resolutions is a common thing to do, but it’s how you communicate to your teams and staff about these changes that will ultimately impact the results.
So you may not be 100 percent committed to your treadmill routine, but seize the opportunity to accomplish some incredibly important and impactful resolutions within your organizations.
Happy New Year from all of us here at HR Advisors Group. We hope it’s a successful one full of sustainable and positive results!
